Neteller Says It Will Stay With US Market
Neteller has announced that it will stay with US market even if President George Bush signs the Anti-Online Gambling Act that prohibits financial institutions from accepting transactions involving online gambling companies.“We are staying in the U.S. I don’t think we have a problem,†said Neteller Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Bruce Elliot, talking before online gaming executives in Barcelona on Thursday.
Neteller provides financial transactions between consumers and third party vendors via the Internet. Most people that play poker online have Neteller accounts, and a great portion of the transactions that occur between players and online poker sites occur via Neteller.
Most players have had trouble in the past trying to fund via their banks long before the bill was even introduced to Congress, so Neteller was able to acquire a big market share among online poker players.
The US Congress passed the Anti-Online Gambling Act end of last month in a shady backroom deal and making it part of an unrelated port security measure. It is expected to be signed into law in the next few weeks.
Many online gaming companies have announced thet they will suspend their US operations once the bill oficially becomes a law.
